Swimming Legend Paul Kingsman races for ODNZ!

11 March 2010Paul Kingsman is representing Organ Donation New Zealand (ODNZ) on April 10 when he competes in the Swimming Legends Race for Charity at the West Wave Aquatic Centre in Waitakere, Auckland.

It is the biggest reunion of past swimming champions ever held in New Zealand. There are eight teams competing in total, each led by a NZ swimming legend. Joining Paul and swimming for ODNZ is: Glenda Biddle (nee Stirling), Dean Kent, Byron Reid, Monique Williams (nee Rodahl) and Oliver Young.

Kingsman is a registered organ donor and supportive of organ donation: "One of the most desired things that many people wish more than anything they could do, is influence others. I think it would be a tremendous achievement, knowing that not only did you have the opportunity to influence someone, but by actually giving them something you didn't need any more, you gave them life!"

The Olympic Medal winning swimmer is now a professional motivational speaker and executive coach and lives in Northern California.

Organ Donation New Zealand's Team Leader Janice Langlands is thrilled to have Paul swim for ODNZ. "It is important for people to learn more about organ donation and then discuss their wishes with their loved ones. By swimming for ODNZ, Paul is encouraging New Zealanders to think about organ donation," she says.
