Can my family over-rule my wishes about organ donation?

Your family will be asked at the time if they know your wishes about donation. In our experience families have said that the decision has been easier when there has been a previous family discussion. Most families do respect the wishes of their loved one.

If I agree to organ donation, (for example on my driver licence) what organs and tissues will be removed?

Only the organs and tissues that your family consents to will be removed. Your family can consent to all organs and tissues, or specify those organs/tissues for donation. Organs or tissues will not be removed for research purposes unless consent from the family has been obtained.
